How to clean glass shower doors

Tips and Hacks

How to clean glass shower doors

Ah, the appeal of the glass shower doors. They’re lovely when they are sparkling clean but they can be difficult to keep that way. With soap scum, water spots, and door crevices, they pose some cleaning conundrums. Here’s how I keep them sparkling clean.

1.Fill a clean spray bottle with equal parts water and white distilled vinegar.

Spray the solution onto the front and back of the shower doors. Allow the mixture to stand for at least five minutes or up to 30 minutes for tough soap scum. Vinegar will cut through the most stubborn dirt and grime and prevent future buildup.

2.Fill a small cleaning bucket with fresh water or use your bathtub or sink.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves and use a sponge dipped in the water to wipe down the shower doors and remove the vinegar. Don’t forget to wipe any areas where the doors overlap.

3.Clean the runners of your bathroom shower doors with an old toothbrush.

Squeeze a dollop of white toothpaste onto the brush and then scrub the runners to lift any dirt, grime or soap scum. Spray with the vinegar solution onto the runners when finished and then rinse away with clean water.

4.Dry your shower doors using a clean towel and make sure they are thoroughly clean.

If you see any remaining soap scum or dirt, repeat the steps above until your shower doors sparkle.

Once the doors are thoroughly clean, a little preventative maintenance will go a long way. Saturate a clean cloth with baby oil and then wipe down your shower doors with the cloth.

Baby oil will further prevent unsightly soap scum from accumulating and will also decrease the amount of time in between cleanings.

Shower Cleaning Tips

1.Glass cleaner may be used in place of the vinegar and water solution, but it will not prevent buildup or cut through soap scum as easily, and it may not be as effective on plastic shower doors.

2.A handheld shower head works wonders for shower door cleaning. You can use a handheld shower head to rinse those hard to reach areas including the inside of the doors and the runners.

3.Use a commercial soap scum remover if vinegar alone doesn’t do the job. In most cases this will be unnecessary,.

But if the shower has been neglected for years, you may need some extra cleaning power, that’s when we at Clean Sweep come in, no matter how stubborn the soap scum our expertise and experience will ensure that that you shower doors return to become all sparkling clean.

How a Commercial cleaning service keeps your tenants happy

Tips and Hacks

How a Commercial cleaning service keeps your tenants happy

What kind of experience do you give your tenants? As a commercial building manager or owner, it’s your responsibility to not only rent space to your tenants but also ensure they have a pleasant experience. They depend on you to maintain an appealing image and level of comfort that makes their occupancy worthwhile.

At the same time, you have the responsibility to balance your tenants’ comfort with the cost of proper building management. Commercial building upkeep and amenities cost money. The purpose of renting space to building occupants is to make a profit, after all.

Luckily, perks for your tenants don’t have to be a loss for you. When you focus on the basics of what your building occupants want, you’ll find that you both benefit.

Not sure how to give your tenants the benefits of an excellent experience while reaping some benefits for yourself? Here are the top things your tenants are looking for from you, how you can meet their expectations, and what’s in it for you.

Benefit to Tenants:

1.Workplace Productivity and Comfort

Most occupants of a commercial building are businesses and have  employees and customers. This means your tenants rely on you to maintain your building in a way that makes work possible for their employees and keeps their customers comfortable.

Here’s what building management can do to help their tenants improve productivity and sales:

Provide consistent, comfortable temperatures with a regularly maintained HVAC system. People can’t work effectively when they are too hot or too cold.

Install a comfortable level of lighting. Lights that are too dim or too bright cause eye strain or create a specific mood that may not be complementary to a business’s brand. Your tenants will appreciate lighting that they can control, so they can choose whether they need to reduce glare on computer screens or shine a light on their products for shoppers.

Maintain a clean environment. No one wants to do business in a dirty office or store. Hire a reputable commercial cleaning service to keep your building spotless and attractive to everyone who walks through its doors.

  1. A Healthy Environment

Maintaining a clean commercial building does more than project the right image for your tenants. It’s also essential for creating a healthy environment for everyone who does business in your commercial building.

Hiring the right commercial cleaning service ensures your building not only looks great but is free of gross germs, molds, and allergens that can sicken occupants. If workers find themselves suffering from allergies and illness after they move into your commercial building, you can be sure they’ll blame you.

  1. Clear Communication

From time to time, questions and concerns will arise that your tenants need to bring to you. Are you responsive to these, or are you difficult to get ahold of? You and your building management team should be available to communicate with your tenants and happy to resolve their issues.

It can be tempting to feel annoyed with tenant complaints at times, but remember, these businesses are paying for your services and can decide to end their lease at any time. They know the value of good customer service and expect that you do too.

  1. Lower Vacancy Rates

Your job as a commercial building manager or owner is to rent out as much space as possible. This is easy to do when you are on good terms with your current tenants. If you are meeting all of their needs and providing a fantastic occupant experience, they won’t want to leave and will be happy to continue paying rent to you.

Having fewer empty units also raises your reputation. Prospective tenants who are looking for a space to rent will notice that you have few vacancies and take that as a good sign of great building management.

  1. Higher Energy Efficiency

If you read the tips for improving tenant comfort and productivity and worried about the cost, consider energy efficiency.

There’s a good chance you’re paying some of the bills for all that energy use. With an investment up front in a more efficient HVAC system and lights, you can cut your energy costs and save yourself money while keeping tenants happy.

Benefit to Owner:

1.Increased Lease Demand

Maybe in the past, you have struggled to attract new occupants. With the right upgrades, this can change. When you create the right atmosphere with the tips above and an excellent commercial cleaning service on your side, prospective tenants will take notice and be ready to sign leases.

2.Keeping Tenants Happy with the Help of a Trusted Commercial Cleaning Service

Managing a commercial building can be a balancing act. On the one hand, you need to keep your building occupants happy and attract new ones so that they will pay you. On the other hand, you need to keep costs low to turn a profit. You also have to balance the many responsibilities on your plate, so you can give your tenants the attention they deserve.

Hiring a qualified commercial cleaning service makes this balancing act easier. The right company will give your commercial building a professional, attractive image to increase your occupancy rate while saving you time and stress.

Be Concerned With Your Office Cleanliness!

Tips and Hacks

Be Concerned With Your Office Cleanliness!

Should you be concerned with your office cleanliness?  Absolutely!  Walking into a clean office each day has many proven benefits.  Conversely, walking into a less than clean office can cause unwanted impact.  Perception, health, productivity, brand image and more can be directly affected by the cleanliness of your work environment.   If you are a company employee – what should you expect as to office cleanliness?  If you are in charge of your office cleaning program, what success factors might you consider?  This article will address these questions and more.

Your Health Is Involved – Offices Have Germs!

Have you ever considered how an office space might affect your health?  Industry research consistently reveals that office environments can be breeding grounds for germs.  Notice these statistics:

  • The average desk harbors about 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat, with some of these bacteria types being incredibly harmful and contributing to the spread of disease.
  • Office phones have been found to harbor 25,127 germs per square inch.  And, these germs can be different types of bacteria – everything from Helicobacter pylori, to E- Coli.
  • Office kitchenettes can be heavy ‘sickness-inducing’ germ offenders.  For example, refrigerator handles, cabinet tops, water coolers and the like can host a heavy concentration of germs.  Research showed one office water cooler to house 2.7 million germs per square inch!
  • A survey of 1,000 office workers found that over two-thirds of workers put themselves at risk by not following recommended guidelines for how often to clean your workspace.

Thus, the cleanliness of your office can directly affect the health of office employees and customers.  Cold and flu season can greatly exacerbate the risk.  Your Cleaning Company should be concerned with your office cleanliness to reduce harmful germs and bacteria.

Brand Reputation – “Word Gets Around”

Have you ever been to a restaurant or retail store and observed, to your disappointment, how dirty it was?  Maybe the floors were visibly dirty.  Possibly the main entrance glass was extremely smudged.  Or even worse, a stale, unfresh odor was present.  How long did it take you to realize your experience was not good?  What opinion did your form?  Indeed, your own opinion of the experience was less than good.  But, it doesn’t end there.

This type of impact is far-reaching.  Did you by chance relay the bad experience to friends are family?  Is it possible they relayed it to others as well?  Negative feedback often travels much quicker than positive feedback.  It’s human nature.

What experience do you observe as an employee in your office space?  What experience do visitors and customers observe when entering or meeting in your office building?  Is the initial impact clean, tidy, and ‘ready for business?’  Or might improvement be needed to ensure your brand reputation is not negatively affected?

Here are a few reminders of high impact office cleaning tasks:

  • Keep entrance glass spotless.  Smudges and a ‘greasy look’ will generate an immediate negative perception.
  • Lobby floors should be well maintained.  Even small amounts of debris and dirt can give the impression the ‘whole office must be dirty.’
  • What about odors when entering your office suite?  Does it smell clean and fresh?  Or possibly stale or ‘slightly off’?  Often, carpets can be the culprit in office odor.  Regular professional carpet cleaning is highly recommended.
  • Dirty HVAC vents and returns will quickly relay an unclean environment.
  • Water fountains and water coolers that reflect stains, debris, and standing water are off-putting and unsanitary.  Often daily sanitizing is necessary to maintain a clean look and healthy use.  Also, take note of carpet stains or wet areas caused by leaking fountains.

Thus, a clean office will assuredly enhance your brand reputation.  However, a dirty one will drive opinions to the negative, and this can indeed spread quickly via word-of-mouth, social media, and online reviews.  Ensure you have a strong commercial cleaning program.  Foot traffic, geography, industry and the like play an important role in cleaning tasks and frequency.
